On April 23 at 12:00, the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute will host the opening of the temporary exhibition entitled “Documenting the Crime: The First Records of the Armenian Genocide Survivors.”
The exhibition presents the fact-finding efforts carried out during the years of the Armenian Genocide (1915–1923) by Armenian individuals, as well as by Armenian religious and socio-political organizations, highlighting the main centers of documentation and archival work.
Most of those engaged in this documentation process were survivors of the genocide, who, setting aside their personal tragedies and emotional suffering, undertook this mission with a strong sense of responsibility and awareness.
These testimonies and documents represent crucial manifestations of resistance to the crime at a decisive moment in the collective existence of the Armenian people, as well as efforts to preserve and transmit historical memory.
As primary and fundamental sources, these materials later formed the basis for scholarly research on the Armenian Genocide.
The exhibition features early memoirs, diaries, photo-documentary materials, and other significant archival records related to the Armenian Genocide.
