From November 25 to 27, a three-day series of regional lectures and discussions was launched within the framework of the AGMI scientific project "Turkish-Azerbaijani Linguistic-Propaganda Discourse."
At the National Center of Aesthetics in Gyumri, the speakers were AGMI researcher, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor, and project head Elina Mirzoyan, and Senior Researcher, PhD in History Tehmine Martoyan.
Within the scope of the lecture, Mirzoyan presented theses, anti-theses, and forms of expression of the Turkish-Azerbaijani genocidal discourse targeting Artsakh and Armenia. In this context, the state policy of Azerbaijanization of Armenian place names, the Turkish origins of these theses, the timeline of their application, and the passive pre-genocidal, genocidal, and active post-genocidal courses of manifestation were discussed in detail. The domain of the "perpetrator's language" and the dangers of its influence were defined, consequences were discussed, and thematic issues of political linguistics in Turkey and Azerbaijan were addressed.
The second speaker, Martoyan, presented a new direction of study within the context of genocide victimology: the "language of eyewitness-survivors." Referring to the periodic continuation of the policy of genocide in Artsakh, she drew a historical-critical parallel, pointing out commonalities, content transformation, and the language of testimony.
The lecture was attended by representatives from both scientific and multidisciplinary fields (historians, ethnopsychologists, literary scholars, poets, educators, journalists, and cultural figures). It concluded with a constructive discussion and proposals for continuous cooperation.
Within the framework of the visit, the speakers also met with people from Artsakh who had settled in Gyumri as a result of forced displacement, for the purpose of word collection.
The regional lectures of strategic importance within the framework of the scientific project are ongoing.
