SPEAKER OF THE SEIMAS OF LITHUANIA Viktoras Pranckietis VISITS THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE MONUMENT AND MUSEUM






The Speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas Viktoras Pranckietis visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex accompanied with the Vice-Speaker of the RA National Assembly Lena Nazaryan and the AGMI Director Harutyun Marutyan.

The AGMI Director presented to the high ranking guests the history and symbolism of the Armenian Genocide Monument. The Speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas laid a wreath at the Genocide Monument after which members of accompanying delegation put flowers at the eternal fire and honored the memory of the innocent martyrs with a minute of silence. The delegation had a tour at the Memory Wall and got acquainted with its meaning and importance.

The guests also visited the Genocide Museum where the AGMI deputy director presented details about the history of the Armenian Genocide. At the end of the visit, Viktoras Pranckietis left a note in the Memory Book of honorable guests and the AGMI Director gifted to the Mr. Viktoras Pranckietis volumes of articles on the Armenian Genocide published in the American press.

In his farewell speech the speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas wished prosperity to the Armenian people, stressed the significance of the Armenian Genocide Memorial and its symbolic role in condemning crimes against humanity and preventing future genocides.
