On September 27th, Azerbaijan, with unconcealed support and participation of Turkey, has unleashed large-scale military operations along the entire line of contact with the Republic of Artsakh, targeting the civilian population, moreover, using banned weapons against them. Thousands of mercenaries and members of various terrorist groups are taking part in the aggression carried out by Azerbaijan against Armenians.
The non-condemned genocides, the silence and indifference of the international community, as well as the fact of impunity and denial, only contribute to the recurrence of this atrocious crime against humanity.
Starting yet in the 1890s, the massacres of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire had a continuous character, cumulating into the first genocide of the 20th century – the Armenian Genocide.
At the beginning of the 20th century (1905, 1918-20s), by the direct Turkish instigation and participation, the Caucasian Tatars (present Azerbaijanis) carried out massacres of Armenians also in Baku, Shushi, Nakhijevan, and other Armenian-populated settlements. At the end of the century Azerbaijanis organized massacres of Armenians also in Sumgait, Baku, Gandzak, Maragha and elsewhere, thus being a part and ideological ally of the Turkish genocidal policies against Armenians. The destruction of the cultural heritage that took place in parallel with the physical extermination, which continues to this day, aims to deny the centuries-old presence of Armenians in their historical territories and the fact that they are indigenous. The Turkish-Azerbaijani military-political alliance is consistently destroying the Armenian churches, cross-stones, monuments, graves and largely everything that testifies to the Armenian trace.
This policy of vandalism once again was revealed today with the shelling of St. Savior Ghazanchetsots Church of Shushi.
Violating all the norms of international law, today the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem tries to repeat the history of the past, creating a threat to the physical existence of the Armenian people and their right to live in their cradle
However, today the policies of the genocidal states are doomed to failure. The generations of the Armenian Genocide victims and survivors, those of the Artsakh liberation struggle and independence are more than ever vigilant, united and determined in their existential battle - by defending national sanctity and values, they are determined to live and create in their own ancestral homeland.
