The work carried out by AGMI researchers is being published both in Armenian and international scientific journals, books and collected works. From now on, we will regularly present their articles on the Armenian Genocide and the Armenian Question published in journals included in international scientific databases (WOS, Scopus, Book Citation Index).
Dr. Edita Gzoyan, Deputy Scientific Director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute and Regina Galustyan, AGMI researcher, have published an article titled
"Forced Marriages as a Tool of Genocide: the Armenian Case" in the monthly journal
“The International Journal of Human Rights” (WOS, Q2). The article provides an overview of the development of the concept of forced marriage in international criminal law and focuses on the forced marriages organised during the Armenian Genocide. It also presents an explanation of marriage practices in the Christian and Muslim communities of the Ottoman Empire. The article also presents copious evidence of state-orchestrated forced marriages as part of the violence perpetrated against Armenian women during the Armenian Genocide by the Ottoman government and concludes that forced marriages were used as one of the tools of genocide.
