TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR AMERICAN TEACHERS

09.07.2022

The American "Genocide Education Project" organisation, in cooperation with the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, is organising a training programme for American teachers on July 9-17, 2022.

The course, which will take place between July 10th and 15th in the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute’s conference hall using a lecture-practical format, will present the participants with the historical, legal and socio-psychological perspectives of the Armenian Genocide, while showing the long-term influence of the impunity enjoyed by this crime and its impact on the current political and economic situation of the Republic of Armenia. A separate session will be dedicated to the Artsakh issue.

The programme includes a special cultural section that will contribute to the increase of general knowledge among teachers concerning Armenians, their history and Armenia itself.

This year, 15 teachers from 15 different US states will participate in the programme. Most of them have 20 or more years of teaching experience in the humanitarian field, while some have edited or participated in the publication of collected works about genocide, in the development of educational programmes of various museums. (For detailed information about participants, see: http: https://genocideeducation.org/welcoming-the-2022-gened-teacher-fellows/.

As a result of the programme, the participants, becoming acquainted with the teaching methods and emphasis on the topic of the Armenian Genocide, will organise such training programmes and practical classes in their states with the support of the GenEd organization.
