The annual press conference of the director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, the Secretary of the State Commission on Coordination of the events dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide Hayk Demoyan was held at Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute at April 18, 2014.
During the press conference Hayk Demoyan presented last year’s activities of the Museum-Institute and addressed to the results and achievements. During the conference reference was made to the construction works that started in 2012, the development of the new museum exhibition, the museum events and AGMI international cooperation.
AGMI director presented in details the preparation works on the new museum exhibition and the innovative and design solutions, which will first be available for local and foreign journalists on 20-23 April, 2015.
Demoyan also referred to AGMI international cooperation, particularly to the Memorandum of Understanding signed with Canadian Museum of Human Rights (CMHR), Cooperation memorandum with Russian "Holocaust" Center, cooperation with Shoah Memorial in Paris, etc.
The Museum call for Lemkin scholarship continuously proves to be a success. This year, due to the large number of considerable applications, the AGMI accepted three post graduate students, and one of them has already started conducting a research in the museum-institute. «This proves the growing reputation of AGMI», - said Hayk Demoyan.
AGMI continues its scientific and publication activities. During 2013-2014 several publication, including monographs, re-publications and translations were released. Another important achievement in this field was the publication of international journals, such as the “Journal of Genocide Studies” and «International Journal of Armenian Genocide Studies». As well as the establishment of the Department of Genocide Studies at Yerevan State University and the development of “Genocide Education” program in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Sciences RA and the National Institute of Education RA.
The AGMI researchers actively participated in international popular conferences and special courses on genocide studies.
During the conference the activities carried out by the State Commission on the Commemoration of the 100 Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide were also discussed. As the Secretary of the State Commission on Coordination of the events dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide Hayk Demoyan referred to accomplished works, the terms of cooperation with local and Diaspora institutions and existing obstacles.
The press conference was followed by the presentation of AGMI publications.
