In 21st of April, the first Monument dedicated to the victims of Iraqi Yezidis in Shangal 2014, opened in Yerevan.
The monument placed in the Circle Park is called “Salvation”. “The monument is has the image of a mother. The mother is our homeland; Shangal, and we are the children. The mother saves her children. On the back side of the monument we find cranes, which means that we will not leave our homeland, we will go back. We were, still are and will be forever”, said the chairman of “Mussel-Shangal” Yezidi National Union NGO.
The monument was built by the support of Armenian authorities, Yerevan Municipality, and financial means of Rashid and Agit Shamoyan families. The opening ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials, intellectuals, foreign ambassadors and members of parliament.
