“SCHOLARS FOR SCHOLARS”
AGMI Researchers Receive Awards Named After Professor Barlow Der Mugrdechian

For the fourth time, AGMI researchers were honored with awards named after Professor Barlow Der Mugrdechian, Director of Armenian Studies at California State University, Fresno. The awards recognized excellence in categories such as best journal article, best book or chapter, and other significant contributions. Professor Der Mugrdechian personally presented the awards during a ceremony at AGMI's conference hall.

In his speech, Harutyun Marutyan, head of the Department for the Study of Repressions of Armenians, thanked Professor Der Mugrdechian for his continued encouragement of AGMI researchers.

Awards were given in several categories, including:

Best Journal Article:

AGMI Director Edita Gzoyan, Regina Galustyan, Shushan Khachatryan, and Narine Margaryan for their article in Journal of Genocide Research.

Edita Gzoyan for her article in Genocide Studies International.

Shushan Khachatryan for her article in Scrinium Journal.

Best Book/Chapter:

Suren Manukyan for his work in the Handbook of Genocide Studies.

Edita Gzoyan for her chapter in The Genocide of the Christian Populations in the Ottoman Empire.

Books Certified by the AGMI Scientific Council:

Regina Galustyan for Harutyun Grigoryan: My Biography.

Mihran Minasian and Hayastan Martirosyan for Garnik Gazanjian: Memoir.

Incentive prizes were awarded for lectures on the Armenian Genocide and the organization of exhibitions in 2023.

AGMI Director Edita Gzoyan thanked Professor Der Mugrdechian for his ongoing support and wished continued success to all researchers.
