Within the conference held in Moscow a temporary exhibition was opened at the museum of Armenian Monastery Complex in Moscow under the title “Armenian Sport and Gymnastics in the Ottoman Empire”.
The exhibition presents hundreds of newly discovered unique photographs related to the history of gymnastic and sport movement in the Armenian populated cities of the Ottoman Empire.
The presentation of the book “Armenian Sport and Gymnastics in the Ottoman Empire” by Hayk Demoyan; Doctor of historical science and Director of AGMI also took place on the same occasion.
The prehistory of formation of Armenian sports and gymnastic in the Ottoman Empire, the development process of the sports and gymnastics among Western Armenians and the activity of first Armenian sport clubs are combined and presented in this volume for the first time. Through this highly illustrated volume the reader is introduced with still unknown and very interesting episodes of the history of Armenian sports.
Another exhibition was also opened at the Armenian Monastery Complex in Moscow titled “The Russian View of the Armenian Genocide”.
