On April 27, the delegation led by the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Catherine Colonna, visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial, accompanied by RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan, RA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to France Hasmik Tolmajian, and France's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Anne Luo.
The guests were welcomed by AGMI Director Harutyun Marutyan.
The Ministers laid wreaths at the Genocide monument, after which the guests put flowers at the Eternal Fire and observed a minute’s silence in memory of the innocent martyrs of the Armenian Genocide.
French Foreign Affairs Minister Catherine Colonna made a note in the Memory Book for Honourable Guests.
Expressing his gratitude for the visit, AGMI Director Harutyun Marutyan, presented to the guests the French edition of the book “Ravished Armenia: The Story of Aurora Mardiganian”, published in 2020 with the support of the head of the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region of France and the second issue of the International Journal of Armenian Genocide Studies (2022), which is a special issue dedicated to Artsakh.
At the end of the visit, the guests walked around the Memory Park, where the French Foreign Minister watered the silver fir planted by French President Emmanuel Macron back in 2018.
